# iPothecary for Finance

Product economics and inventory financial reporting for ophthalmology and optometry practice finance teams.

## Important clarification

iPothecary is not an accounting system. It does not replace a general ledger, ERP, or revenue cycle management platform. It provides product-level operational data — cost, quantity, sales, and margin — that finance teams can use alongside their existing financial systems.

## What iPothecary provides

### Cost tracking at receiving
When products are received, the unit cost is recorded alongside the lot and quantity. Cost data is associated with the specific inventory batch, not applied as an average after the fact.

### Revenue by channel
Sales data is broken down by channel: in-clinic kiosk, staff-assisted point-of-sale, and online storefront. Revenue figures reflect completed transactions.

### Product margin visibility
With cost recorded at receiving and revenue recorded at sale, iPothecary can show the relationship between what was paid for a product and what was collected from it. This is operational data, not a substitute for formal accounting.

### Inventory value
On-hand inventory quantities, combined with recorded costs, provide a view of the dollar value currently on the shelf. This is a snapshot of operational inventory, not a balance-sheet valuation.

### Recall financial impact
When a recall affects on-hand inventory, iPothecary identifies the affected quantity and its associated cost — providing an estimate of the inventory value affected before the product can be sold or returned.

### Multi-location reporting
Revenue, cost, and inventory data are available across all locations, with filtering by location, product, vendor, and time period.
